My Vegas is Different than Katy Perrys Vegas
My family went to Las Vegas over the weekend for a family reunion. I have nothing to say about it other than that it was fun and that I succeeded when Derrick challenged me to find Pop-a-shot on the Strip.

YOU be the judge
We are leaving for Hawaii in 26 days! Spring break!
I am trying to decide if I want to dye my hair before we leave.
Blonde?

Darker brunette?

My current, own boring natural hair color?

In Which Derrick Celebrates His Birth
Derrick turned 26 yesterday. Now begins the two months where he seems way older than me than he actually is (which is 14 months and 1 day).
Last weekend Derrick's family came from Boise to surprise him and celebrate. I wish I took more pictures. We all had a great time and appreciated their taking time to come and spoil us. (Plus any time with our baby nephew is very welcome!)

Be Careful...
Be careful what you wish for.
In this post, I wished for a few things.
Happily, I received the Star Wars blu-ray set for Christmas.
And,
my baby brother came home, safe and sound.

But...I wished for it to be summer vacation again. It has been sunny and warm here in Utah (and in Idaho, where we spent a chunk of Christmas break). No snow. Brown mountains. My brand new skis that I got for Christmas sitting in my parents' garage.
Not okay, universe, not okay.

'Bout Sums it Up

This has been an extremely difficult past couple of months both physically and emotionally, but I feel blessed to have been able to get caught up in school (mostly) and am looking forward to this semester winding down. Luckily I can appreciate the early sounds of Christmas without worrying about impending finals. I took all writing courses this semester, so I have written about a thousand pages (with another thousand to go), but nooooo finals!
I'm stoked for Thanksgiving next week in Boise and then Christmas in Provo with none other than Elder Christian Agle, returned from Thailand!! (December 12th is his return date! Counting down...) My niece is also in currently in town for a couple of months from Manhattan, and that has been brightening my life and causing my gas tank to empty as I keep driving down to Provo to see her.
Well I have to run off for my bajillionth blood test in the past few weeks and then it's back to work preparing for my oral argument for summary judgment tonight. (Which has taken a back seat to a lot of my other work, so I need to work feverishly!)

Musings
Despite Pres Uchtdorf's inspirational message on Saturday evening, I am still going to take one moment to wish for my Golden Ticket.
I really want this, even with the changes.

I really want it to be summer vacation again.

I really want it to be December 12th, when my partner in crime comes back home.

As for the chocolate in my life right now,
*School has been kicking my butt all semester but it doesn't change the fact that I love school and always will. I am dreading next September, when, for the first time since toddler-hood, I will not be starting a new year of school.
*I am starting to see Halloween decorations around. I have eaten candy corn and Reese's pumpkins. This means I should have no cause for sadness.
*In less than two weeks I will be in fabulously wonderful Pittsburgh, enjoying two weddings (one of which includes TWO besties - marrying each other!) and a beautiful Pennsylvania fall. I haven't seen a real Eastern fall since high school. My trip will include a stop in Washington DC (first time going into the DC temple to do something besides baptisms!) and possibly NYC to visit my brother's family.
*Football is in session. This alone can make me happy at any time or in any circumstance.
P.S. I mean this as no offense to anybody, but I just don't get Pinterest. What cool aspect am I missing? (Note: My indifference to website may be due to my indifference to clothes, crafts, or photographs.)

Dude Where's My Brain
I always sit down here to write something intelligent, but my brain is absolutely sucked dry these days. I expected my 3L year to be kick back but I somehow felt the need to load up my classes with actual practical work. (In contrast to most law semesters where you don't do a single assignment - with the exception of a lot of reading - until the final, which accounts for 100% of your grade)
I'm realizing that I just want to be a lifelong academic, not a career woman. I just want to study and learn, not actually litigate or appeal.
So there you have it. I have nothing intelligent to say.
